In a medium bowl combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix ingredients together until well combined, set aside.
In a large bowl cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing until incorporated, add the vanilla, mix well.
Gradually mix in the dry ingredients and stir until combined. Cover and chill batter for 1 hour.
Using a teaspoon scoop out a small amount of dough and roll in the palm of your hand into a ball, then roll in the extra sugar, and place on cookie sheet to bake.
Bake for approximately 10 minutes, pulling cookies out when they are slightly golden brown around the edges, cool and enjoy.
