Who doesn’t love fries? They’re crispy, flavorful, and oh-so-satisfying. However, going out for fast food or ordering delivery can be expensive and unhealthy. Luckily, making your own oven-baked fries at home is easy, inexpensive, and delicious.

To start, you’ll need five baking potatoes. Make sure to scrub them clean before cutting them into slivers. Once you have your potato slivers, it’s time to season them. You can use any seasoning of your choice, but for this recipe, we’re using kosher salt, fresh black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and chili pepper. Drizzle three tablespoons of vegetable oil over the potatoes and toss until the potatoes are evenly coated with seasoning and oil.

OVEN TEMPERATURE: 325°F & 400°F
SERVINGS: 4 SERVINGS

5 baking potatoes

3 Tablespoons oil of choice

Sprinkle of seasonings of choice, I used: kosher salt, fresh black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and chili pepper

Instructions:

  • Scrub 5 baking potatoes clean.
  • Cut into slivers.
  • Season and oil to taste (these have kosher salt, fresh black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and chili pepper, and veg oil).
  • Bake low and slow until soft at 325°F for about 45 min.
  • Then turn heat up to 400°F and bake until crispy another 15-2o minutes, or desired preference.

Next, preheat your oven to 325°F and bake the fries for around 45 minutes, or until they are soft. Then, turn up the heat to 400°F and bake for another 15-20 minutes or until the fries reach your desired level of crispiness. That’s it! You now have delicious, homemade baked french fries. These fries are perfect for a snack or as a side dish for your next meal. Plus, you can feel good about making a healthier choice by baking them instead of frying.

There are a few tips to keep in mind when making oven fries. First, make sure to cut the potatoes into even slices to ensure that they cook evenly. Second, use a large baking sheet or two smaller sheets to spread the fries out in a single layer. Overcrowding the fries can cause them to steam instead of roast, which will make them less crispy. Finally, don’t forget to season your fries generously to give them plenty of flavor.

With just a few simple ingredients and some patience, you can make delicious, crispy, and satisfying fries right in your own oven.
