Soft, delicate, perfectly sweetened, this is sugar cookie recipe is simply, great! I’m not going to sugar coat it (ha), it’s a favorite. I use all year long and roll it in colored sugars to celebrate the seasons, and sometimes I skip the sugar and go for frosting! Whichever you fancy, this sugar cookie recipe makes the perfect dough.
It’s easy to make with ingredients you’ll most likely have on hand. Win win. You just have to cream your butter and sugar until fluffy, add eggs, vanilla, dry ingredients, mix, chill, scoop, roll in sugar, and bake. See, easy peasy, and fun for the kids to make with you. Full directions are below, but I know you won’t even need the recipe after making this a few times, it’s that simple. I love the simple things in life don’t you, (especially when they are coated in sugar, hehe, ok I digress).
I’m also super excited share that I’ve partnered up with Real California Milk to help raise money for families affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Real California Milk Spot the Seal campaign will make a donation every time you share a photo of their Real California Milk seal on social media. For every submission Real California Milk will donate $5 to the Great American Milk Drive (up to $20,000) to help families affected by hurricane Harvey and Irma in Texas and Florida.
As always, no purchase is necessary, so make it a fun scavenger hunt at the store to spot the seal. Get a close up shot of it, no need to show the brand, just the awesome little Real California Milk Seal. We can post now ‘till 12/31, which gives us plenty of time to spot the seal, snap, post, hashtag, and tag away to donate today!

- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 ¼ cups unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract

In a medium bowl combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix ingredients together until well combined, set aside.
In a large bowl cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing until incorporated, add the vanilla, mix well.
