Soft, delicate, perfectly sweetened, this is sugar cookie recipe is simple, easy and delicious! I’m not going to sugar coat it, it’s a favorite! I use the recipe all year long and roll it in different colored sugars to celebrate the seasons, and sometimes I skip the sugar and go for frosting! Whichever you fancy, this sugar cookie recipe makes the perfect dough.
It’s easy to make with ingredients you’ll most likely have on hand. Cream your butter and sugar until fluffy, add eggs, vanilla, then gradually add your dry ingredients, mix well then chill. Now scoop, roll in sugar, and bake. See, easy peasy! Fun for the kids to make with you. - 2 ½ cups flour
- 1 ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 ¼ cups unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- Extra granulated sugar for decoration
Preheat oven to 350° degrees.
In a medium bowl combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix ingredients together until well combined, set aside.
In a large bowl cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing until incorporated, add the vanilla, mix well.
Gradually mix in the dry ingredients and stir until combined. Cover and chill batter for 1 hour.
Using a teaspoon scoop out a small amount of dough and roll in the palm of your hand into a ball, then roll in the extra sugar, and place on cookie sheet to bake.
Bake for approximately 10 minutes, pulling cookies out when they are slightly golden brown around the edges, cool and enjoy.
