Cheese Spread (Körözött)

A savory cheese spread with feta, whipped cream cheese, scallions, and sweet Hungarian Paprika that is always a hit with our family and friends! This recipe has been passed down to three generations and brings with it a lot of love and great memories. Körözött; a traditional favorite in Hungarian families, in mine, and now I hope yours. Enjoy!

How To Make It

  • Bring cream cheese, feta, and butter to room temperature. Place in a bowl along with the remaining ingredients; blend well.
  • Transfer to a serving bowl. Garnish with extra scallions and serve alongside an assortment of crackers, French baguette, pumpernickel, or rye bread.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz . cream cheese
  • 8 oz . feta cheese
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (1/2 stick), softened
  • 3 scallions , including stalk, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp Hungarian sweet Paprika , more or less to taste
  • 1/4 tsp salt , more or less to taste

OPTIONAL INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tbsp prepared mustard
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds

Instructions

  1. Bring cream cheese, feta, and butter to room temperature. Place in a bowl along with the remaining ingredients; blend well.
